The plaintiff’s attorney in a case that alleges that they have proof that ACORN has committed massive institutional voter registration fraud for the purpose of helping people vote illegally, when asked if he could document any case of someone actually voting illegally because of ACORN, dishonestly described a situation in another state that, it turns out, was based on flimsy evidence and is false. Do you need any more proof that his lawsuit is purely a PR move rather than a serious claim for relief?
Esquire Magazine articles are hardly the go-to information source for political trends but I couldn’t pass up a quick post about this strange one: “Why White Supremacists Support Barack Obama.”
The article basically interviews 4 white supremacists and finds that three of them actually support obama.
And why, you might ask, would a white supremacist support America’s first black presidential candidate?
Rocky Suhayda, Chairman of the American Nazi Party ( Likes: Hitler, white people; Dislikes: Jews, immigrants, multinational corporations) put it this way:
“White people are faced with either a negro or a total nutter who happens to have a pale face. Personally I’d prefer the negro.”
It turns out Rocky hates multinational corporations more than he hates black people. So he’s supporting Obama.
According to the call I got this morning, the Ohio AFL-CIO is endorsing the caino initiative because it will bring thousands of good jobs to Ohio that can’t be shipped overseas.
For those of you who are counting, consider this reason #13 I’m voting for Issue #6.
Halloween is, without a doubt, my favorite holiday. Normally I’ll carve a couple of pumpkins – one kind of happy and one kind of scary.
I always buy way too much candy (because one year we ran out) and almost always I’m sent out of town for work at the last minute and I never get to actually hand out candy to the neighborhood kids which is the best part.
And almost always, Halloween week is the best week in Autumn because the following week is usually election week. And for Democrats, that week has pretty much sucked for the past decade.
Well this year a number of things have changed.
For starters, I actually have kids of my own – so I don’t seem like a weirdo carving pumpkins for myself anymore. (might post pictures of the girls tomorrow if anyone is interested)
Second, I actually have the day off work. Woo hoO!
Third, we are only a few days away from electing Barack Obama President of the United States!
In honor of that last part, I decided to carve an Obama pumpkin this year instead of my typical happy pumpkin. ( I gave up on trying to make a scary John McCain pumpkin )
You may know recognize Mr. Walrus Mustache Bolton from his brief stint as US representative to the UN. Or maybe as one of the ‘rude’ and ‘undiplomatic’ neocon assholes who help get the U.S. into war in Iraq.
Or maybe you don’t recognize him at all. Doesn’t matter.
What’s important here is that Peter and Michael share two important traits.
First: they both are willing to tell outright lies to push their own agenda.
Bolton “tried to spin intelligence to support his views and political objectives” regarding the U.S. invasion of Iraq while Feldman pushed a story to the press about a black guy carving a B into the face of a white woman.
Second: both are Christians who feel it necessary to scare the Jews for political and personal gain.
Feldman helped send emails to 75,000 Jewish voters in PA warning of a ’second Holocaust’ should Barack Obama be elected President. And Boltin is no better. He works for the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs – a group that believes that “‘regime change’ by any means necessary in Iraq, Iran, Syria, Saudi Arabia and the Palestinian Authority is an urgent imperative.”
If it’s true that you can tell a lot about a man by the company he keeps, then Peter Feldman is a lying neocon asshat.
I just saw this live on CNN – best interview of the week!
Another great example of what happens when interviewers actually follow up on their questions – especially with the “can you give me one example of …” question…
I didn’t see any mention of Ted on the front page – but the second paragraph leads off with a quote from Republican Senate President Bill Harris.
So I hunted down the rest of the article inside the paper.
Not only does the article not mention Ted Strickland on the front page – it doesn’t mention Ted Strickland at all in the entire article.
It does include another long quote from Republican House Speaker Jon Husted. And, to be fair, it does include a few words from Eric Fingerhut.
But considering this proposal came directly from Governor Strickland, it seems like a pretty big ‘oversight’ on the part of the Dispatch to completely exclude any mention of him from the article.
Great reporting as usual, Dispatch. Keep up the good work.
Don Elijah Eckhart, the other guy running for Congress in Ohio’s 15th district, gave Mary Jo Kilroy an endorsement this morning on WOSU.
I only caught the end of the show, which had Mary Jo Kilroy, Steve Stivers and Eckhart answering questions from callers. But I’m confident I tuned in to the best part.
One of the last callers was some rude pro-life guy who asked Eckhart why he should vote for him – insisting that such a vote would most likely help elect the “pro-abortion candidate” Mary Jo Kilroy.
Eckhart had a really surprising answer.
After discussing the importance of his Christian beliefs, Don went on to list the ages of the two other candidates: Kilroy in her late 50s – Stivers in his early-40s.
Then he made this argument: pro-life voters should vote for Mary Jo Kilroy because she won’t be around as long as Steve Stivers.
Not exactly the kind of endorsement you’d expect from your friends – but certainly a solid endorsement from one of your opponents.
I’ll get audio posted if/when WOSU gets it online.
Before I start this post I’d like to thank Modern Esquire from BSB to inspiring me to write it.
Really early this morning Modern posted something that made me even more sure I made the right decision in voting for this year’s casino ballot initiative (Issue #6).
He points out that the Ohio Republican Party’s central committee “voted to oppose a proposed state constitutional amendment to permit a casino in Clinton County” aka Issue #6.
So now we have reason #12 to vote for the Casino: The Ohio Republican Party doesn’t like it.
Last December Steve Stivers – Republican candidate for Congress in Ohio’s 15th district – made some creepy comments about a bunch of young High School girls in Cincinnati, calling them “attractive women” and saying that he’s “allowed to window shop, just not buy.”
I don’t think I even posted about it back then because it didn’t seem like such a big deal. A minor slip of the tongue. It could happen to anyone.
But now I’m starting to wonder if I let him off too easy.
Two pieces of information came to my attention today that make me think maybe Steve Stivers’ attraction to young ladies might not be a healthy one.
The first is an article from The Hill about Steve Stivers campaigning at OSU – specifically in sorority houses.
“I just wanted to introduce myself around and say hello to you guys,” says Steve to a bunch of Delta Zeta sorority girls sitting around eating pasta. Odd.
He also gave a speech to Kappa Alpha Theta.
No word on whether he visited any fraternities.
The second new piece of information is this video of Steve nodding along with some local High School cheerleaders…
By itself, not too creepy. But when you add it to the other stuff, it kind of makes you wonder if this guy really represents the “family values” party.
Of course I’m not saying Steve Stivers is a total perv. There certainly isn’t enough evidence to make that assumption.
But as Cliff put it, you do have to wonder if this is the guy you “want to see mentoring a 16-year old Capitol Hill page.”
Earlier today Tim over at BI posted some info on Peter Feldman – the kid who pushed the fake, racist, carved-B story to the press while working for John McCain in PA. I didn’t discover his post until this evening. It covers some of the same info as my earlier post – but it has some great pictures and some additional info that make it work the extra click.
Since my last post about Peter Feldman I’ve talked to a few people about him. And everyone seems to have the same opinion: he’s a total dick.
Specifically, I’ve heard he is a “douche bag”, an “utter tool” and absolutely deserving of “a public shaming”. (hope we can help with that last part)
I’ve heard he went to some fancy private school and he’s into trout fishing, wine tasting and trap shooting. He also likes to talk about yachting and, as this photo clearly illustrates, he may have actually been on a yacht long enough to have had his picture taken behind the wheel once…
Careful there Petey… If you steer too hard your button-down shirt might come untucked from your shorts!
Yes, I know none of this is relevant to the carved-B incident. Hang in there though. I’m getting to it.
Peter Feldman has made quite a name for himself this past week.
Feldman, in case you haven’t heard, is the McCain communications staffer in Pennsylvania who pushed an incendiary version of the Ashley Todd story to the press. Basically claiming that a large, black, Barack Obama-supporting man carved a backwards B into the face of a young, white, female John McCain supporter.
The story, of course, turned out to be a hoax. And PA Police are now considering bring Ashley Todd on charges.
I considered giving Petey a break because it was just this one thing. He’s a young guy working on a losing campaign who got a little excited by some news that turned out not to be true.
But that was before I found out that he may also be involved in sending emails to 75,000 Jewish voters warning of a ’second Holocaust’ should Barack Obama be elected President.
